The Weight Loss Tip No One Talks About

By Mike Roussell · Thursday, February 5th, 2009

This weight loss tip is something that’s very, very important, and what I want to talk bout today does not trust your eye. And specifically in regards to changes in your body.

Because one of the things that I’ve noticed, especially in working with our clients, is that they have an image, and I’m sure you do, and I know I do.

We have an image of how your body should look, in your mind. And when that image… you don’t see that in the mirror, then, you know, you can get down on yourself.

And so what’s going to happen is: and I see it happen all the time, is you’ll start dieting, and you’ll be looking in the mirror, and in your mind. You’ll have this image of how you should look. But you’re not seeing that in the mirror, so you’re actually not seeing the progress that you’re making.

May be you’re going to lose. This just happened with a client: lost 15 pounds and was looking in the mirror, and, “Oh, I’m not making any progress. I don’t feel like I’m doing well”. But in reality they had lost 15 pounds. But because they weren’t looking like they had that image in their mind, they weren’t giving themselves credit for all the progress that they have made.

So it’s a really important weight loss tip: it’s not to trust your eye. And that’s why it’s important for me to take measurements like your waist, and your hips and your thigh measurements. So you can, excuse me, so you can see, you know, if your waist goes down three inches. That’s some serious progress.

Even if, when you look in that mirror, you don’t see that perfect you yet. Taking hard measurements and not trusting your eye allows you to really recognize the progress that you’ve made. And to keep going so you don’t get down on yourself.

Because momentum is extremely important with weight loss. OK? So again, I’m Mike Russell. That’s going to wrap us up for this weight loss tip!
