Weight Loss Supplements – The Truth

By Mike Roussell · Thursday, February 5th, 2009

What I wanted to talk about today is weight-loss supplements. I get lots of emails from readers and listeners wondering: what’s the best weight-loss supplement? And the truth about weight-loss supplement is that no supplement in particular is going to help you lose weight if you’re not using diet and exercise at the same time.

We’re constantly bombarded with all kinds of messages about all these magical teas that are floating around the Internet, specific cold and cleansing routines that are going to help you lose 20 pounds in two hours. You turn on the TV and there are weight-loss-supplement ads telling you that you should only use something this powerful if you have 50 or more pounds to lose. So you’re thinking to yourself, “Well, I only have 20, so if I use this that would be great.”

The reality is none of these things are going to work unless you have a diet and an exercise plan, together, in addition to the supplement. OK? So, even though there are all these kinds of claims, and by themselves, weight-loss supplements don’t work, but if you can add a weight-loss supplement to proper diet and exercise, then you will get a bump in your weight loss, depending that you use something–none of these magical teas. You won’t get a bump if you use something like that.

But that’s really the key is to add diet and exercise first. Start losing weight, add on the weight-loss supplement, and then you can see if it’s going to help your weight loss. And chances are, if you use a good one, that it will help your weight loss. OK?

So I’m nutritionist Mike Roussell. That’s going to wrap it up for this weight-loss tip.
